Through my series I unveil a narrative centered around my own family disguised as skaters or goths. By styling and capturing my parents and sister as members of a specific youth-subculture, I initiate a thought-provoking role reversal between children and their parents.
This reversal not only challenges conventional norms, but also prompts introspection into the influence of external factors on personal style.
Set in my hometown in Austria, a small village inhabited by a mere 700 people, the series assumes an additional layer of significance. Against the backdrop of this seemingly homogenous setting devoid of subcultures, my visual narrative becomes a compelling reflection on the impact of environment and social context on individual expression. By seamlessly blending the subcultures with the tranquility of my rural surroundings, I provoke contemplation about identity, conformity, and the boundaries of self-expression.
