Diploma - Consider Things

CONSIDER THINGS is an examination of the world of things and its relationship to man. Things, as part of the artificial and man-made world, served as the starting point for this work. Specifically, it is destroyed or destructive things that have initiated and led the photographic and theoretical process - contrary to the idea of destructive ending, they stand at the beginning of something new. In the process, a space of possibility for reflection and interpretation has opened up between the end and the beginning. It is an attempt to look at things in a new way at a time when information (1) is becoming increasingly important, and to pay attention to those things that are seen as waste and unproductive in the affluent society of the Global North. In doing so, new perspectives and connections are sought - both visually and intellectually.

The work shows fictional and staged fragments of a world that is not far from a capitalist and consumerist everyday life, but still takes on a surreal and dreamlike scale. Through manipulation and staging, an attempt is made to create a fiction that condenses situations, states and perceptions. CONSIDER THINGS invites us to look for connections and to find out new things. (E.G)

(1) In the terminology of Vilém Flusser and later Byung-Chul Han, information is called undings. They displace things from our environment. According to Han, we are in transition from the age of things to the age of undings. (cf. Han 2021: 7 and Flusser 1993: 81).
