As part of the exhibition theme "How We (Don't) Live," I focused on public space. With public space becoming scarce due to the rapid growth of large cities and increasing competition for space, it is gaining more significance. To explore people's needs and desires, I took individual walks with people in their neighborhoods.
Using a cloth as a green screen, I provided an impulse to encourage a different appropriation of space by adding and removing elements.
The cloth served as a prompt to answer the following questions:
What would you do in this place if it belonged to you?
How would you use it?
Who or what would linger here?
What do you feel is missing in this place?
This series was created as part of the cooperative project "WIE WIR (NICHT) LEBEN" with Arbeiterkammer Vienna.
As part of the eponymous urban exhibition, which was on view from June 26 to September 1, 2024, at various locations across Vienna, PUBLIC CURTAIN: SHAPING SPACES was presented as an exhibition at als Ausstellung im Stand 129 am Viktor-Adler Markt in 1100 Vienna.
