This study programme focuses on the realization of applied photography tasks through the media of photography and moving image. Core areas are the exploration and elaboration of new solutions (with regard to both contents and technique), the development of a visual identity and the creation of an individual imagery. Important personal requirements include curiosity and power of imagination, intuition, social competence and perseverance.
Students will need to dedicate about 35 hours a week to their studies.

Entrance Exam Part 1

24 February 2020, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Registration and submission of application documents at the department for Applied Photography and Time-based Media, Oskar Kokoschka-Platz 2, stairs 2 (courtyard), 4th floor, A-1010 Vienna

Your application documents must include: Informal text and CV with picture. Your text should outline your motivation for applying. Application portfolio (format up to A2; needs to be packed flat) with samples of your work, especially in the media of photography and moving image. All work samples must be clearly marked with your name. We discourage applicants from submitting purely digital portfolios.

25 February 2020, 6 p.m.
The names of candidates who have been admitted to the entrance exam will be published on a list posted at the entrance to the department. No information regarding admissions will be given via telephone or e-mail.

26 February and 27 February 2020, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Candidates who have not been admitted to the entrance exam can retrieve their application documents at the Dept. Applied Photography and Time-based Media.

Entrance Exam Part 2

26 February to 28 February 2020, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Exams and short interviews will be held at the Dept. Applied Photography and Time-based Media.
Please bring cameras (smartphones or Polaroid cameras are also acceptable), paper, writing and drawing utensils (including, if needed, material for collages, etc.), laptops if possible.
